RE: Wild Horses

THe last time I posted a blog entry, it was about Tim Tebow getting drafted.

So here's the followup: I love him, but I hope the Broncos get Peyton Manning this week.

This is gonna look great when its the only post for the next two years.

Wild Horses

The Denver Broncos picked Tim Tebow, the most successful college quarterback ever with their 25th pick in the first round. He's not a great thrower, but an amazing runner (probably a better power rusher than any running back in the draft, he could have been the #1 fullback). He'll get to sit on the bench for a few years developing, but I'm sure we'll see him a bit in the Broncos' "Wild Horses" trick offense that sees a lot of quarterback running.

Only 5 months till the season starts!

Yes, I may end up buying a Tebow jersey. Might even be two, one for me and one for Zangar!

If Wishes Were Fishes...

we'd have a whole lot of stew.

iPhone v4 Revealed?

Sounds like the Gizmodo guys somehow got a hold of the 4th-generation iPhone. Apparently it WAS running iPhone OS 4.0, but when Apple realized it was out there, they remotely disabled the phone, and it no longer boots. Bummer.

So what are the dirty deets? It looks like a "better" camera on the back, with a flash. That's cool. Presumably it does video like the 3GS, maybe at a higher resolution. Definitely takes photos at a higher resolution than my 3G.

Front-facing (!) camera. It'll be much easier to pose for mySpace galleries. Not sure if I want to be making video calls, let alone making them on the AT&T network.

Looks a little thinner than the 3g. Also, they're ditching the curved back for a flat one...  I like. I'm getting sick of the "Apple wobble" when I sue their devices on top of a flat surface. It also looks like they're going with a brushed aluminum silvery back like on the new Macs, iPad, and the original iPhone... I feel like I'm going to miss my white plastic.

A higher-res screen, but slightly smaller. Not sure how I feel about that. The iPad has spoiled me.

A second (!) microphone, to be used for noise cancellation. A nice quality of life change.

So that's all neat. But will it be enough for me to NOT drop AT&T like a bad habit in two months? Time will tell...

Quick Review: Kick-Ass

Kick-Ass was awesome. I was really looking forward to it, but it exceeded my expectations. Even good old Nicki Cage wasn't absolutely terrible... I loved the weirdo superhero cadence he took on when he spoke while wearing his costume.

  • Lots more violence than I expected... its not just a nerd bashing people with a couple of batons. TONS of blood, gore, harsh language... I guess like a comic book?
  • McLovin' as Red Mist was great. Toking up in his car "to take the edge off" while fighting crime? Priceless.
  • Hit Girl's purple hair made me think very bad thoughts about 11-year old girls.
  • Nicki Cage's gunplay was very well choreographed.
  • Kick-Ass runs his superhero-for-hire hobby off of MySpace.com... seems like that part of the movie was written in 2005.
  • I love that "bazooka" is a commonly used word again

I've been writing this screenplay (one very similar to it) in my head for years. I'm glad that this story was able to be told. And I'm glad that the studio didn't water it down to be a PG-13 for the extra box office dollars. This is not a movie to take a 13-year old to. For mature (HA!) audiences.
